South Padre
Island’s Laguna Madre Nature
Trail was named in the Top 10
List for Boardwalks by Texas
Parks & Wildlife, The Outdoor
Magazine of Texas.
The nature trail’s boardwalk is
located adjacent to the South
Padre Island Convention Centre
at 7355 Padre Blvd.
The article lists the
boardwalk’s features as being
1,500 feet long while cutting
through tall marsh grass and
linking four acres of wetlands
to the Laguna Madre shore. There
are two observation blinds where
tourists may watch various
Island animal life -- from birds
to turtles to even an alligator.
Birders come from all over the
world to visit the Island and
its well-known nature trail to
catch a glimpse of various
rare-bird species.
The Queen Isabella Memorial
Bridge wetlands boardwalk also
received an honorable mention.
